INTEL
At CES in Las Vegas, Intel showcased a 2200-square-foot non-uniform projection-mapped wave as the centerpiece of their booth. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with the installation by using one of six custom-fabricated sensing stations around the booth's perimeter. These stations allowed visitors to create a silhouette from which a unique bioluminescent life form was generated. The resulting animated life forms interacted playfully with one another, creating an immersive and dynamic ecosystem. The installation not only captivated visitors but also showcased the potential of technology to create interactive and engaging experiences.
My Role
As a member of the creative team, I played a key role in the development of the overall experience at Intel's booth at CES. I was responsible for designing the environment and final creatures, as well as the user interface for the input stations. My role required close collaboration with the client, other members of the creative team, and developers to ensure a cohesive and visually impactful outcome.
My expertise in experience design, environment design and UI design was crucial in bringing the project to life, creating an engaging and interactive ecosystem that captivated visitors and showcased the potential of technology.
Mood Board
This mood board served as the initial step in communicating ideas with the team. It was heavily influenced by the work of Robert Hodgin.
Early Concepts
The Stimulant team collaborated with Foghorn Creative and Intel through multiple rounds of brainstorming and concept development. These are some of the initial concepts I created to convey ideas. I particularly like the first one.
Life Forms
I experimented with various techniques to simulate the final outcome for the life forms. I eventually employed a combination of After Effects and Photoshop and fine-tuned them in real time with the engineers.
Behind the Scenes
To run this experience, 18 PCs all running the latest Intel chips were all networked together. These machines not only kept our office warm during the winter but also helped to power the projection mapping.
